About tokenswise

tokenswise exists to answer one kind of question well: the practical, slightly annoying problems you hit when you build on commercial AI APIs. Why am I getting a 429? What's the real rate limit on this tier? Is Anthropic actually cheaper than OpenAI for my workload? How do I migrate without breaking tool calls? Which models are about to be deprecated out from under me?

It's an independent site — not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, DeepSeek, or any other provider. We make money through display ads and affiliate links, which means we have no incentive to favor one provider over another. When we recommend a tool, it's labelled, and you can ignore it and still get the full answer.

How content is made

Every page is written for developers, by developers. Code examples are meant to run, not to illustrate vaguely. Numbers — pricing, rate limits, context windows — are stamped with the date we verified them, because these change constantly and a stale number is worse than no number. Each article carries a "last updated" date and a reviewer byline so you know how fresh it is and who stands behind it.

Who reviews it

Articles are reviewed by Dev Raghu, Software Engineer, who has shipped production systems on multiple commercial AI APIs. Spotted something wrong or out of date? That's the most useful thing you can send us — see the contact page.

Our standards

  • Working code, not pseudocode.
  • Every figure marked "as of [date]"; verify against official docs before you ship.
  • No AI-sounding filler — if a sentence doesn't help you, it gets cut.
  • Clear next step on every page: you should always know what to do next.
